May 2022 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
FreeHosted by Castle Debates and the CIWEM South Eastern branch
Event description
The CIWEM South Eastern branch are delighted to join the Castle Debates for a discussion on the state of our rivers and other waterways.
The most common sources of pollution of our waters in the UK are:
a) sewage from domestic and industrial processes;
b) agricultural effluent, e.g. from use of pesticides and fertilisers;
c) oil pollution, e.g. spillage and loss from storage facilities;
d) radioactive waste, e.g. industrial, medical and domestic sources;
e) fly tipping in rivers; and
f) marine pollution from waste dumping and waste washed from land e.g. plastics.
The Debate will describe the issues in detail and discuss the various remedies to improve the quality of these wetland habitats.
Part of the CIWEM Pollution digital series.
